Nathalie-Roze Fischer is the craftista-designer behind the "Nathalie-Roze" line of upcycled textile accessories, which spawned the Nathalie-Roze & Co. boutique and craft studio in 2006. N-R is a keen do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiast, a pop culture vulture as well as a freelance writer and the organizer of several fundraisers and crafty/fashion events - including the popular Crafternoon Tea series.
Currently based in Toronto, N-R's previously lived, worked and studied in several cities - among them Paris, Nice, Glasgow and most recently London (UK).
A split-brained Gemini who's happiest juggling her multiple interests, Nathalie-Roze has worn many professional hats, including that of freelance arts journalist, teacher, art therapist, costume designer, small business mentor and communications specialist. She's had the entrepreneurial bug, since street-vending her first line of jewellery at age 15.
In addition to her designing duties, Nathalie-Roze has contributed arts-focused editorial and regular style columns to various publications - these include the Toronto Star, NOW Magazine, Metro News as well as several art, fashion and alternative music websites.
Currently, N-R produces her "Frugal Fashionista" column for T.O.night Newspaper's weekend edition (released on Fridays) with the aim of keeping Toronto's working gals in the bargain loop.
In January 2010 Nathalie-Roze & her assistant, Laura Cristinzo, organized 'Shop for the Cause' - a time-sensitive fundraiser for Haiti, which generated over $18K for the Red Cross' Haiti Earthquake Fund.
Most days Nathalie-Roze can be found in her Leslieville shop sipping a chai latte and either chatting with customers, crafting in the studio or hammering out a column at her desk. |
