With more and more people around the country generally concerned about their overall health and well-being, it is no wonder that physical fitness is making a comeback. People everywhere are making a concerted effort to go to the gym and put in a good workout, and more importantly do so on a regular basis.
However, that last part is part of the problem for many Americans. Although many of them want to make a change to their lifestyle and change their bodies for the better, going to the gym regularly is often times just something that they cannot do. And without being able to go to the gym regularly, many of them revert back to their old ways and their bodies never become what they truly aspire them to be.
Thankfully, this is where the wonder that is resistance bands comes into play! For those who don’t know, resistance bands are basically stretchy, rubbery bands that you can use to create resistance for yourself while working out. Although slightly different from a typical gym workout, resistance bands still allow you to actually work out your muscles in a meaningful way. Unlike the typical “free weights” in the gym which allow you to pick and choose any weight you need for your workout, resistance bands rely on selecting from a smaller selection of “resistances” – however, you can still vary the resistance by varying how much each resistance band gets stretched as you exercise.
The only requirements for resistance bands are having some sort of sturdy anchor point to which the resistance band would be tether to – most people can find a suitable solution somewhere in the home, or they can alternatively just use their own body weight by stepping on the bands to hold them in place, depending on the specific exercise of course. There are a wide range of exercises that you can do with resistance bands, making them a great way to do all of the things you do at the gym, from the comfort of your own home!
In fact, the ability to work out from home is arguably the best selling points of resistance bands. For those aforementioned people who simply don’t have time to go to the gym, being able to work out from home with resistance bands is huge. And even people who do regularly go to the gym can utilize resistance bands as an alternative to save them huge chunks of time, not to mention money – Instead of driving out every day to the gym, adding potentially an hour of additional commuting time, as well as additional spending on gas for their car, they can avoid all of that, while still getting an adequate workout at home using resistance bands.
While not everyone work outs, or even desires to work out for that matter, there is no doubt that finding a way to get in an effective workout from the comfort of one’s home is of great value to those who do work out (or who want to start working out). So if you know someone who does value physical fitness, it would be a very safe bet that a set of resistance bands would be a great and thoughtful gift for them to achieve their fitness goals!
